Songo.info at the BMX Heritage Cup
On Saturday Ndiphe and I we took 11 kids to Kayelitsha for the Heritage Cup.
This was the first race and first outing for the BMX kids.
We choose the team on Wednesday it was not easy at all as the BMX kid are always more done 30 during the training and I had to choose only 10 kids for the race.
In order to get the team of 11 we had to have a mini race for the and take the first 2 in all ages and that was a very though competition as they all wanted to go.
I have made a promise that I have to keep that on the next race I will give others a chance.
On the day of the kids were at the Kayamandi Police at 05:10 and ready to go but I have asked them to be there at 06:00 so we left at 06:10.
We were there first team to arrive in Velokaya and to register and they got enough time to feel the track while the other teams were still busy registering.
There were two things that got my kids afraid was the track it is bigger than our and the have big jumps, start up gate and the BMX kit for the Velokaya it made them look like pros so we had have some motivational talks with the kids before they start.
The race started at 08:30 with the under 11, we had Onke and he had a good start and finished on the 3rd place and the next group was also under 11 we had Abongile who finished second.
Then we had Zukhanye Zwedala on girls under 11 and she had a great start and she a clean 2nd place and that motivated the team, 1st place on the semi finals and she crashed on the finals and she stood up and pick up her bike and fort for the 3rd place.
Zola Ngxakeni was on the 11 and older and he cleaned the first race, and took the 1st place on the semi finals and ha a bed start on the finals but he manager to fit for the second place and he was very happy to bring the cup home.
Luyolo Dunga 15 year old group had a bad start on the first lap he leaped out of the pedal and he forth for the 3rd place and he cleaned the semi finals and finished on the 2nd place on finals.
Siphenkosi; Songezo; Theo; Yolanda and Elton they all finished 4th on the finals.
Thoko was the only girl on the 14 years so she had to race with the boys she finished 3rd on the first lap and they push her in to the corner on the semi finals and she crashed and finished 4th.
The were 5 BMX clubs that clubs that took part on the day so each club gets point by each kid that goes through the finals.
Velokaya won the cup and we were on the 2nd place and the 3rd place was team Jeep BMX from Durban.
Velokay had a home ground advantage they must watch out on the next one.
My kids we very proud of the second place for now and they were celebrating the whole weekend.
