Project Manager’s Update

Thanks to:

Pedal Power Association, JAG Foundation, Stellenbosch Municipality, ABSA Corporate and Business Bank, and other people who have donated in private capacities. You can see them here

The track is now complete and ready to be ridden on. We’ve been waiting for the sun to “bake” it just one more time.

Official bike of the Kayamandi BMX track is MONGOOSE! For now, we have invested in 15 bikes, tools and necessary spares. Odwa and Ndipe built up all the bikes single-handed and already have experience in the mechanics of the BMX bike.

The bikes will be locked up inside a container that will be stored in the Kayamandi Police Station compound – thanks to Stellenbosch Municipality and Kayamandi Police Station for agreeing to this and to Songo for organizing this.

The track will be open for riding on 1 August 2008. Odwa is drawing up a detailed schedule, opening times etc. and will be published on website in due course.

PLEASE REMEMBER: NO HELMET, NO RIDE!!

In the meantime, we’d like to introduce Odwa andNdipe. Odwa will be managing the track, the bikes and the daily activities on the track, and will be assisted by Ndipe.
