Cape Epic 2009: Stages 6 and 7
After the controversy of the previous day Songo.info were back on the start line to fight for another stage win which they just fell short of when they finished second to Bart Brentjens and Chris Jongewaard of Team Trek-Brentjens.
The seventh and final stage of the ABSA Cape Epic was expected to be an all out racing affair resembling that of a World Cup race. The first sections of the 60km stage were ridden at a very fast tempo with a few attacks coming and a few teams getting away. The stage was eventually won by the Fluckinger brothers of the Trek WC team, followed by Brandon Stewart and Max Know of DCM Chrome.
In a true show of sportsmanship Team Songo.info crossed the line hand in hand with the Bulls team who had succesfully defended their yellow jersey to win the 2009 ABSA Cape Epic.
